Zombies aren’t an evolutionary dead end–they’re just the beginning of an alien life cycle. Their overlords, the Progeny, are out to take our world, and we’re the only ones capable of stopping them.

The world I grew up in, my family, my dear friends, and my unborn child–all gone. Lost to traitors, zombies, and their alien masters. They’re getting more powerful, creative, and aggressive. We know they’re coming for us.

War can take everything from you, including your hope, and your humanity.

Blood Soaked and Gone eBook James Crawford

This book is the third and probably last in the Blood Soaked series. The author maintains his solid writing style, but without as much bitter humor. Our main character has matured and become a leader. He makes major personal sacrifices to give his people a better chance. Mr. Crawford tied up most of the loose ends, while leaving room to write more if he visits this world again.
I read the first two books as audio books which were very well narrated. At this time, Blood Soaked and Gone is not an audio book. I tried the text to speech program that came with the last iPhone update with fair results. The reader added so much to the other books, it might be worth the wait for a professional narrator.
In the world of post apocalyptic novels, it's easy to accept writing that's a little ragged. Some of it doesn't look like spell check was used, let alone an editor. We fans roll with it for the sake of a good story or forgiveness for a new author. Mr. Crawford does not expect his fans to accept crap, however. He is a polished writer who sets the bar high for his genre. As such, he honors his readers. All authors should show that we are worth the time for well written literature. I hope to read more of his work.

Blood Soaked and Gone eBook James Crawford Reviews

I really enjoyed this series - Frank as a character was refreshing - an intelligent smart-ass. I'm hopeful James will add to the series - I'm going to miss Frank and Charlie! The books are fast paced and fun - and since I grew up in the city they are based it I enjoyed the neighborhood scenes.
I went back to reread the first two books and stumbled upon this new one. The world is interesting, the characters are relatable, and the story is amazing. My only small complaint would be that this book seemed a bit less well edited for mistakes than the previous two. Nothing huge...but there are a few broken sentences or "out" instead of "our" kind of issues. As this was the most expensive book, and the others were so well edited, I was a bit suprised. It didn't take much away from the story...but it was a bit distracting at times. I would still recommend this series very highly!!
I really enjoyed the first two books. Ok, I *loved* the first two books. I'm not a huge zombie fan, grabbing book 1 because it was free and seemed interesting. I fell in love with Frank, his crazy comments, hitching along in his mind. While I haven't read a great many books of this genre, I appreciated the fact that James made the characters slightly crazy - after all, how can you go through events like these and still be completely normal? And the other twists? Stole my heart!

(note if you don't remember everything that's happened previously, don't worry - the prologue will provide a quick review. You can also read it for free in the sample, so I'm not going to re-iterate here.)

ok - on to this book. Tragedy hit our little family at the end of the last book, and it carries on into this book. The tone of the first half really reflects this as Frank isn't joking around as much and his few jokes fall a little flat. You can feel his pain and loss. I really had no idea what was going to happen..it could go either way. I love an unpredictable plot.

The second half sends Frank on an intense mission which brings back a bit more of the Frank we know and love. Don't get me wrong - it doesn't just happen - things happened at home and he did some thinking. But the last half, was almost like Frank of book 1.

Thankfully, the book doesn't end on a cliffhanger, not really. There's room for more and I'm hoping as much, but you won't be left wondering as to the fate of our beloved characters (well, not too much).
Loved the book. Great way to end a series. I highly recommend this book. Start with Blood Soaked and Contagious and keep on going. Frank Stewart is a great character and is the kind of person I hope I would be when the s*** hits the fan.
So far I've loved every one of the books in this series. The author goes in to such detail that you feel as though you are there in the book yourself. Definitely recommend this book
I absolutely loved this book. I like how the Blood Soaked universe's mythos is developing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the albeit brief expositions on the ethicalness of one character's ability to nearly instantly save the planet, via a very different route.

James Crawford hit it out of the park again! And unlike a lot of series (cough The Unincorporated Man cough), I largely felt the characters stayed true to their original selves, even from the first book, except where their psyches had been changed in the humongous turmoil that has occurred since the very first pages.

If you like zombies, nanotech, the best of scifi, alien invasions, and complexly developed characters, this book and series is for you!
I know this book is 5 star awesome, because I was a beta-reader!
I pre-ordered the finished product, which just showed up today.
I can't wait to see how much better than awesome it has become in it's finished perfection!
I'll get back to you on that!

Well done, James! The prologue was a really good refresher, since it's been awhile from the last book.
I really liked the big battle at the end and the outcome! The story could end here but I certainly see options for more.

I would love to go on and on but I do not want to give any spoilers.
You'll just have to read it for yourself and I highly recommend doing just that!
